Rejected Greeting Cards, vol. 494

Who said "If I had more time, I would have written a shorter letter"? Everyone thinks it's Twain, but it was Blaise Pascal, writing 178 years before Samuel Langhorne Clemens was born.

Likewise, Marie Antoinette never said "Let them eat cake." "Well-behaved woman rarely make history" was a Harvard professor, not Marilyn Monroe. Gandhi never encouraged us to "be the change you wish to see in the world."

Anyway, life's full of these little disappointments, and your birthday was just one of them.

Happy belated.
